The Genomics Core Facility offers the use of a NanoDrop Spectrophotometer.
The NanoDrop® ND-1000 UV-Vis Spectrophotometer is designed for measuring
small volumes. It can accurately and reproducibly measure as low as 1ul
of sample, perfect for limited sample volumes. It has a large dynamic
range eliminating the need for dilutions.
A key feature of the NanoDrop is the sample retention system, which allows
for the measurement of 1ul sample without the need for cuvettes or capillaries.
The NanoDrop’s fiber optic technology allows the user to simply wipe the
pedestal clean after making a measurement. The highly polished surfaces
of the sample retention system are resistant to sample adherence preventing
sample carryover in successive measurements. This technology also makes it
possible to recover the sample after a measurement has been completed.
